I had a lot of fun making this chunky African necklace. A lot of times, I find myself with a single bead left over from a long strand of beads. It sits there, alone and untouched for months. I love jewelry with an African flair, so I simply put together a lot of the lonely, neglected beads I had in my studio and came up with this. I love the variety of shapes, sizes and colors this piece carries. It is, of course, one of a kind and a true statement piece.

Went to the Gem and Jewelry Show this weekend. Couldn't stay away as always. Since silver is so high, I found some really nice pewter pieces to use as charms. I hope silver does not continue to rise in price because is is really causing a lot of jewelry designers to leave sterling silver out of their designs due to the cost.
A hot, hot summer
I just survived a stretch of some of the hottest days on the record books. So glad my power was not out like so many mid-westerners. Well, despite those miserably hot days, I was able to somehow create a few pieces in my studio. I've had this faceted pink bead for several months and was not exactly sure what I would do with it. I really like the small pink glass beads due to their shade variations. The toggle is .925 sterling silver with a gorgeous design pattern on it. The large pink faceted teardrop bead picks up color gradations as you turn it from side to side. A really gorgeous piece. This is a perfect eye-catching piece to accent one of those flowing summer dresses.
Of course, I went to the Gem and Jewelry Show last weekend at Vet's Memorial. I wasn't in a great mood to bead shop because I wasn't feeling well, but I had to go anyway. I noticed that several of the regular vendors were not in attendance and that's a shame. I really didn't come out of the show with much this time. I did, however, come out with a a few strands of some beautiful Brazilian agate beads from which I have already made some earrings . I will post photos of them soon-hopefully this weekend. I need to update some pictures anyway.Don't forget to shop at a small business this Saturday.
Local Source of Essential Oils
If you're looking for essential oils, fragrances, diffusers and body butters in the Columbus, OH area, try The Oil Refinery and Reserve located at The Shoppes at 1030 Alum Creek. I love their shea butter with coconut oil-especially during the winter months when my skin gets dry and lotions seem to all but disappear within a few hours of application . This product is whipped and coconut oil added to give it the perfect consistency. They have great gift items and stocking stuffers. Check them out.
The busy month of May
Wow ! The month of May is certainly going to be a busy one for me. I have three different vending events in one month. But, I'm thankful. On May 13th, I will be at a private women's luncheon, on May 15th, I will be at The North Market and on May 22nd I will be at The Columbus Torah Academy for Spring Fling. Maybe after these three events, I will have a good excuse to go out and buy more beads.
Looks like it's time for me to get ready for Spring. I will be at the The North Market's Artisan Sundays the third Sunday of each month until October. Artisan Sundays is an outdoor event showcasing some of Columbus' talented artist who individually create works of art by hand. It is a fun opportunity for me to meet new and existing customers from around the area. It's also a great way to soak up the sun on a summer day. Hope to see you there !!!
Decided to add a few more earrings to the site. I still have dozens of more earrings and other jewelry that I have not put on the site yet, but I wonder how long that will take. It's possible that I will never upload each and
Silver, Copper and Beads
I am sitting here in front of my Mac, debating on whether I should continue working on my website or going to the bead show. Even if I'm broke, I am somehow compelled to go to each an every bead show despite the fact that I have plenty of beads that have yet to become one of my creations. You never know what you might find there. The price of silver and copper have skyrocketed over the past year. It's much harder to find reasonably priced silver toggles and beads like several years ago. I like to keep my designs at reasonable and affordable prices for my customers.
Ever since I started making jewelry 5 years ago, I find myself somewhat obsessed with beads. I love creating new and unique designs. I also love the loyal customers who return again and again to snatch up some of my new designs and to hear them tell me about the many compliments they get on their many jewelry purchases. It make me feel good to hear people rave about my work. I truly enjoy creating them.
